OVERVIEW - DIAGNOSTIC & SURGICAL PROCEDURES (PULMONARY)
Welcome to the self-study module on Diagnostic and Surgical Procedures - Pulmonary System. The purpose of this material is to familiarize you with the various diagnostic and surgical procedures performed on a patient with thoracic/respiratory alterations as well as complications that may arise. It is assumed that the student has reviewed basic anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system and upper GI tract to prepare for this learning module.
This module will cover key points regarding:
- Diagnostic tests, such as imaging studies, bronchoscopy and lung biopsy
- Surgical Interventions, including thoracotomy for lobectomy, pneumonectomy, decortication, radical neck dissection esophagectomy/esophagogastrectomy
- Potential complications of such procedures
