GENERAL ASSESSMENT OVERVIEW

The goal of this module is to familiarize the nurse with the assessment system and general assessment skills that provide the framework for data collection. This is an introductory level course to the general assessment process.

Learning Objectives

After successful completion of this module, you will be able to:

  1. Identify components of a systematic process for assessment of a critically ill patient
  2. Identify components of a systematic assessment for data collection from a family of a critically ill or emergency patient
  3. Identify basic content and skills needed for assessment for each body system to which more advanced skills may be added throughout the development of the participants’ practice in critical care
