CRITICAL CARE OVERVIEW
This module describes the concept of the critical care nursing focus and identifies how this concept relates to other aspects of health care within the framework of Primary Health Care. The preventative, supportive, rehabilitative, promotive, and curative foci of health care are explored. The curative focus and the team members involved with the patient and family care are identified. By looking at aspects of personality, pathology, and physical dimensions that thread throughout the patient’s critical care, the care of the patient and the patients’ family are examined as well.
After successful completion of this module, you will be able to:
- Demonstrate the abilities and attributes necessary for competent nursing care
- Explain the critical care nurse’s role in the Primary Health Care model
- Provide examples of Essential Services
- Explain the stakeholders of Curative Care
